Information
In today's world, with near universal access to the internet, and it's media capabilities, virtually anyone has the opportunity to present themself in a worldwide forum. It seems like a lot of big corporations, and already successful people fear the possibility that has for displacing them. Right now, many legal attempts are being made to limit successes available to the common individual. Those people, and those attempts deserve to fail. Why should anyone be hindered? Increasingly, it seems like the venues available to independant (unsigned) artists are being commercialized. Often, I'm sure, to fund the legal battles that are keeping these companys afloat. What a shame that the wealthy are so concerned about multiplying their wealth, that they can't stand the idea of others finding success on an easily available forum. Really, what I'd like to see is some legislation that puts people on an equal footing. I'm tired of doing searches on search engines, and getting the same site over and over again for a result before I ever see any other results. Or, getting my browser slammed with pop-ups - I know what I'm looking for, and I don't need it spoonfed to me. Then when it comes time to list my site, I show up as number 10,000,000 on the results. This internet is a public forum. Wouldn't it be nice if the public could use it individually to their advantage without getting lost in the shadows of huge, already successful web operators.
What we need to do as bands, is really network. We really need to get a presence on the web. Not so much as individuals, but kind of like a big assed conglomerate ourselves! When I find a URL to a site that offers to link us, I'll post it here. If you want your band's URL (Mp3.com or ?) posted here, E-mail me. I'll put it on my link-page when I get a chance. Dude's Feel free to post my URL, each other's URL. You know, if everyone links to everyone, it would get confusing for the surfer. But if all in all everyone's linked here and there, it improves our rating on search engines etc.
